Listening to your child sharing his or her nightmare can be challenging and heartbreaking. It is hearing your child’s unspoken fears and concerns. Their cry asking you to help them; to hear them.
Most nightmares are a normal part of coping with changes in our lives. For children, this could occur in response to such events as entering school, moving to a new neighborhood or living through a divorce or remarriage.
One of the most important things is to listen to them without interrupting or criticizing. They are sharing their most innermost thoughts and feelings with you.
